How Can Youth Lead in Society 5.0? Apply for ASEF Young Leaders Summit 2025
In an increasingly digital, interconnected world, the concept of Society 5.0 encourages us to imagine a future where technology serves humanity, inclusively and ethically. To equip young changemakers for this vision, the Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) announces the 6th ASEF Young Leaders Summit 2025 (ASEFYLS6) — a fully-funded opportunity for youth from Asia and Europe to learn, lead, and act.
What Is the ASEF Young Leaders Summit 2025?
The ASEFYLS is ASEF’s flagship youth leadership programme that gathers participants from across Asia and Europe to explore leadership at three levels: self, team, and society. With a strong emphasis on community engagement and innovation, ASEFYLS6 focuses on the theme “Leadership in Society 5.0.”
Society 5.0 envisions a human-centered society that integrates cyberspace and physical space to solve complex social challenges. This summit will train participants to understand and lead within this framework.
Programme Structure and Timeline
The programme is divided into three dynamic phases designed to foster knowledge, collaboration, and real-world impact:
- Knowledge Building Phase (Virtual: 29 July – 26 August 2025)
– Thematic expert-led sessions and leadership dialogues, about 4 hours per week. - Leadership in Action Phase (Virtual: 27 August – 28 September 2025)
– Collaborative teamwork among Asian and European youth to research and propose solutions to real-life challenges using technology. - Youth Summit (On-site: 29 September – 5 October 2025, Osaka, Japan)
– A fully-funded in-person summit for networking, expert discussions, and cultural immersion in the birthplace of Society 5.0.
Who Can Apply?
To apply for ASEFYLS6, you must:
- Be a citizen of an eligible Asian or European country
- Be aged between 18 and 30
- Have excellent English communication skills
- Demonstrate leadership potential and motivation for societal impact
No registration or participation fee is required. Selected participants will receive full coverage of accommodation, meals, and travel subsidies.
