Are you a young person eager to make a tangible impact on the world’s most pressing environmental issues? A global movement is underway, designed to empower you to turn your passion into action. The 1 Million Youth Actions Challenge (1MYAC) is calling on young people everywhere to join a collective effort for a more sustainable future.
This initiative provides a unique platform for youth to engage directly with global goals, contribute to meaningful projects, and become part of a community of change-makers.
What is the Youth Actions Challenge?
The 1 Million Youth Actions Challenge (1MYAC) is an ambitious initiative with a clear goal: to mobilize and encourage one million concrete actions from young people, aged 10 to 30, for a more sustainable planet. Promoted by the UN Climate Change Learning Partnership (UN CC:Learn), this challenge isn’t just about awareness; it’s about creating measurable impact through youth-led efforts.
Focusing on Key Global Goals
The challenge centers on promoting four critical Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to address climate change and the depletion of natural resources. Participants can choose or create projects related to:
- SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation
- SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production
- SDG 13: Climate Action
- SDG 15: Life on Land
How Can You Participate?
Getting involved in this youth actions challenge is straightforward. Here’s how you can join:
- Register: Sign up on the 1MYAC platform.
- Choose Your Action: You can select from a list of proposed Standard Actions or design a unique project of your own.
- Take Action: You will have one year to complete the action you’ve committed to.
- Verification: To ensure transparency and accountability, group actions are reviewed by peers from other participating teams, mirroring real-world monitoring processes seen in international negotiations.
The challenge is accessible globally and is available in six languages, including English, French, Spanish, German, Portuguese, and Russian.
Who is Behind the Challenge?
1MYAC was founded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and the RéSEAU – SDC’s Water Network. It is a high-quality initiative promoted by UN CC:Learn to enhance global climate literacy and empower the next generation of leaders.
